Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskara Rao has taken strong exception to the inconsistencies in the draft T Bill that was tabled in the State Assembly on Monday.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Rao found fault with the officials for not taking proper care in drafting the Bill. He said that the Bill appears to be drafted in a great hurry.
Taking a dig at the ministers, he said that they were notorious for not reading bills, but questioned as to what were the officials doing. He added that the entire Bill was drafted by those who have an agenda against Telugu people and that the Bill was an “exercise in absurdity”
He added that the Bill did not even mention the benefits that the division will bring for the Telugu people and does not explain for whose benefit the State was divided.
Stating that he had participated in the Vishalandhra movement, Rao said when Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin stopped Obama from going to war in Syria, the latter conceded. Also, in Canada when the government wanted to divide one region, it faced tremendous backlash from the public and the government had to backtrack on its decision. Reacting to the comments made by Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu against the Speaker Nadendla Manohar alleging that he had tabled the draft T Bill in a hurry, Bhaskara Rao said Manohar had performed the constitutional duties.
He said that neither he nor his family had any understanding with the Congress high command. He felt that it is Naidu who should be blamed for the present state of affairs in the State, since it was his actions that had led to bifurcation. Rao said that Naidu had written a letter to the Centre in support of Telangana, but now he has changed his tone. “He spoke for Muslims till recently, and now he is backing RSS. Naidu keeps changing his stance and is now commenting on me and my son,” he fumed.
Questioning Naidu's claims for 'equal Justice', Bhaskaraa Rao asked Naidu to explain the meaning of 'equal justice' to him. Does it mean dividing Krishna River into two? “I don't understand what Chandrababu Naidu wants,” he said adding that Naidu is extremely adept at fixing deals.
