Singareni Collieries Celebrate Quasquicentennial Anniversary. Singareni Collieries Company is one of the government owned coal mining companies in India.

Singareni Collieries Company is one of the government owned coal mining companies in India. The company has been jointly owned by the government of Andhra Pradesh and the Indian Union government.

When we look back into the history, it is said that in the year 1871, Dr. King of the Geological Survey of India discovered coal near the village of Yellandu in Khammam district and one of the important coal seams bore his name. So many times the ownership was changed.

At last, the Govt. of India decided to control its equity directly in SCCL. Accordingly, agreement was accomplished on 13th December 1977. The SCCL, the Government of A.P., the Government of India and Coal India Limited were parties to the agreement. These two agreements are known as quadripartite agreements. Later, the so called tripare agreements have come into force and the ownership has been jointly held by both the governments of Andhra Pradesh as well as the union government of India.

The company is known for its productivity. Recently, it created a history during the Telangana agitation, when it was at its peak, as all the employees took part in Sakala Jana Samme. The Singareni Collieries inherit a rich heritage and culture.

On Thursday Singareni celebrates its 125th anniversary. The Hans India team wish Singareni Collieries more successful years ahead.
