Victims can get information to fight their cases

Hyderabad: A public lecture on medical negligence and justice for victims will be organised by the People for Better Treatment (PBT) Centre for Human Security Studies at the Press Club, Basheerbagh at 6 pm on Monday (December 23). PBT convenor P Ramakrishna Reddy, in a press release on Saturday invited the victims of ‘medical negligence’ to attend the lecture.

Dr Kunal Saha, a noted HIV specialist from USA and founding-president of PBT has been fighting relentlessly against ‘medical negligence’ and ‘corruption’ in the healthcare system in India, ever since his wife and a US-based child psychologist, Anuradha Saha, died due to the alleged medical negligence in 1998.

After a 15 year fight against the three senior doctors and Kolkata based AMRI Hospital for medical negligence causing his wife’s death, the Supreme Court gave a historic judgment on October, 24, 2013, by awarding the highest compensation of Rs 11 crore including interest to Dr Kunal Saha. The verdict has rekindled hope for justice for countless victims of medical negligence in India.
