Hyderabad: The Central government has decided to set up an exclusive MSME University in Hyderabad besides a Tool varsity in Visakhapatnam, according to KH Muniyappa, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of National Institute of MSME held at its campus here on Saturday, the Union Mminister appealed to the State government to free 57 acres of NI-MSME land that was encroached or allot around 100 acres of separate land, near to the city for setting up the varsity. If the State government came forward, he said that the foundations for prestigious varsities in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam would be laid during next month (January).

Underlining the significant contribution of the UPA government in the development of MSME sector in India, Muniyappa said that both UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have accorded high priority to this sector recognising its significant contribution to balanced, equitable and sustained ‘inclusive growth’.

During the 12th plan, MSME Ministry intends to create around 5 lakh new enterprises under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) thus directly creating employment opportunities for 40 lakh people.

He said that his Ministry had issued directions to all stakeholders to ensure that applications were forwarded to District Task Force Committee (DTFC), screened and submitted to bank which would then sanction and disburse loan along with the release of margin money within hundred days after receiving applications. During 2013-14, 4,232 applications, selected by DTFC, were lying pending with banks which were told to disburse loans by end of January, Muniyappa informed.
