Hyderabad: Telugu Desam MLA Hanumanth Shinde, from Jukkal constituency in Nizamabad district, along with thousands of his supporters, joined TRS in the presence of party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao at a programme at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, TRS chief said that the TDP would be become a non-entity in Telangana State post bifurcation. He felt that its fate would not be different from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which was no longer reckoning in Jharkhand after the division of Bihar.
Terming actions of Seemandhra leaders as a political drama, he wondered as to why no one was speaking about rights of people of their region. “On one hand Seemandhra leaders call students of Osmania University as ‘Talibans’ and on other they speak about keeping the state united. Why do they want to live together if we are like Talibans,” Rao asked. According to Rao, the behaviour of Seemandhra sections was baffling. “Not only they want rights of their region, they even want rights over Telangana region too.
Are we asking a stretch of land in Guntur or any other property belonging to them,” the TRS chief fumed. “Formation of Telangana is inevitable. Seemandhra leaders should realise that and act in a responsible manner. They should ask the Centre what all they require in Visakhapatnam or Tirupati or other cities in their region,” he said. Telangana region has faced severe neglect in the unified State, which is why there are serious problems regarding power and water even after presence of Singareni Collieries in our territory besides the fact that two big rivers pass through the region, he said. The TRS chief promised to address irrigation woes of Nizamabad district, particularly of Jukkal constituency after the formation of the new state.
Meanwhile, explaining reasons for his decision to quit Telugu Desam, Hanumantha Shinde said that the volte face act done by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in the last few weeks had shattered the morale of TDP functionaries in Telangana districts. The decision to join TRS was an easy one since pro-Telangana party has been spearheading the movement for the last 13 years, he said.
