Hyderabad: The APNGOs Association, which would be going for elections on January 5, has 846 voters who would decide the future body of APNGOs. The list prepared earlier in the year had the same number of voters. Ch Hanumantha Rao, Election Officer, explained that out of the 34 nominations for various posts, only one candidate had withdrawn. On the issue of employees retired after the list was prepared, he said it would be sorted out within a couple of days.
In the elections, Ashok Babu will be contesting with the Prakasam district president Abdul Basheer for securing his position for another term, while N Chandrasekhar Reddy, general secretary would be facing challenge from PVV Satyanarayana, a former aide to Ashok Babu who shifted loyalty. Condemning the talk that the union elections of APNGOs has eclipsed the Samaikyandhra agitation, Ashok Babu held that the agitation would start afresh after the elections.
Speaking to media persons at APNGOs home, he said that the elections would be an opportunity to provide strong leadership.
