Protestors Detained, Samaikyandhra activists. The town police took into custody several Samaikyandhra activists so as not to face any problems from them during President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit on Monday.
Anantapur: The town police took into custody several Samaikyandhra activists so as not to face any problems from them during President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit on Monday.
The activists were nabbed in the morning wherever they were seen, including their houses. They were released after the President’s visit ended at 3 pm. Several students of S K University were taken into custody, even as they tried to take up protests. Among those arrested were Lakshminarayana(SKU JAC), YSRCP student leaders K V Maruti Prakash, Somasekhar Reddy, Maruti Naidu, Raghavendra, Venkatappa, Jangalapalli Rafi, Samaikyandhra activists Rangampeta Gopal Reddy, Sridevi, Pennu Obulesu, Bandi Parasuram, Krushna Manjula.
The arrested persons, who described the Seemandhra Ministers and MPs as ‘traitors sporting the Samaikyandhra mask’, expressed their resentment towards the police action. They alleged that an attempt was being made to make the concluding session of the former President Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy’s centenary celebrations slated for the day successful.
