Godavarikhani: Virasam leader Vara Vara Rao on Thursday alleged that Telangana Praja Front (TPF) chairman Akula Bhumayya, whose funeral took place in his native village Kachapur, was ‘murdered’ by the Central and State Governments because of he was fighting for statehood.

Addressing a condolence meeting later, Rao urged all democratic forced to condemn the alleged government action as ‘cowardly’. He asserted that the ‘ruling classes’ should realized that Telanagana sentiment could not be wiped out and that people of the region were fighting for their rights.

The ruling classes, he alleged, were identifying and killing those fighting for Telangana and opposing the Green Hunt, which began with the murder of Ganti Prasad. He said people of Telangana were being terrorized by security forces holding flag marches. Rao said Bhumayya’s last journey on Thursday reflected the people’s mainstream life, which should be noted by Karimnagar SP. He said the TPF chief had played a key role in the 1969 struggle and the Telangana agitation since the last seven years, with a call to people to fulfill the late leader’s goal of achieving statehood. He claimed that several attempts were made by the government on the life of Bhumayya.

Deviprasad, TNGOs State president, TPF general secretary Nalamadu Krishna , CP(ML-New Democracy) district secretary Juvvadi Chalapati, State leader B Sampath Kumar, APCLC State leaders Harinath, Narayana, TJAC leaders Shankar Mudiraj, Pentayya, muneer mujahid, APCLC leaders Y Malla reddy, Kumaraswamy, former Dubbak MLA Ramalinga Reddy, and a large number of Telangana protagonists attended. Members of the Praja Natya Mandali rendered revolutionary songs throughout the funeral procession.
