Toopran (Medak): Minister for Women and Child Welfare Sunita Lakshma Reddy on Saturday said that the people of Telangana should strive for a ‘Ratanala Telangana’ that would be rich in physical and mineral resources.

Inaugurating a lift irrigation scheme on the Haldi Lake here, she said that the people of Gadvel constituency were fortunate to get the lift irrigation project. Later, speaking to the media along with balladeer Gaddar, the minister said that once the lakes were filled with rainwater, the water could be used through the lift irrigation scheme. She said that the idea to set up a lift irrigation project here was mooted by Gaddar. She said that Gaddar knew how to make optimal use of natural and mineral resources.

The Minister said that 1,204 ayacut farmers would be benefited as they would be able to irrigate 684 acres of land through the project. She said that the entire credit for putting into motion, the process of Telangana should go to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. People of the region need not have any doubts about the formation of Telangana State, she added. Speaking on the occasion, Gaddar said that the locals should develop Telangana region by utilizing the physical and natural resources to the maximum extent. He desired that students should pay a key role in the formation of a Ratnala Telangana.
