Hyderabad: Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge commissioned the railway line between Humnabad and Khanapur at a function held at Humnabad railway station on Sunday. He also flagged off the inaugural DEMU passenger special train from Humnabad to Bidar to mark the commissioning of the railway line.

He said on the occasion keeping in view the potential for growth of traffic and in response to requirements of the public, the Railway Ministry had progressively been expanding its network and services. He said that commissioning of the new section, which was part of the prestigious Bidar-Gulbarga new rail line project, had fulfilled the long cherished aspirations of the people of the region.

Earlier, South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager PK Srivastava said that the 37.2 km-long new rail line was completed at a cost of around Rs 200 crore. It has five new railway stations en-route.
