Saints threaten to lay siege to Tirupati, Hindu Raksha Samithi, Hindu temples. After discussing attacks on Hinduism and Hindu temples, the executive committee meeting chalked out an action plan to counter such attacks

Protest against Islamic varsity on temple land

Visakhapatnam: The executive committee meeting of Uttarandhra Sadhu Parishad and the Hindu Raksha Samithi was held here on Sunday on the premises of Visakha Sri Sarada Peetham, Chinamushidiwada, in which Sarada Peethadhipathi Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi Maha Swami participated.

After discussing attacks on Hinduism and Hindu temples, the executive committee meeting chalked out an action plan to counter such attacks. On this occasion, Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi Maha Swami alleged that Islamic University was constructing a huge building complex abutting the Timmappa Swami temple, that too on the temple lands in Tirupati, which was unfortunate.

The Swamiji said that they had submitted representations to the State government many times in this regard but neither the government nor the TTD management initiated steps to protect Hindu Dharma.

The saint demanded that the government immediately take back the temple land so as not to hurt the sentiments of Hindus. “If the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy failed to initiate steps in safeguarding temple lands and the sentiments of people even in his native district of Chittoor, the people will teach him a lesson shortly,” he cautioned.

The meeting also demanded that Central and the State governments declare Tirupati as an ‘Autonomous Hindu Pilgrimage Town’ to help protect the sentiments of the people. The saint said it was resolved to lay siege to Tirupati by the ‘Srivari Dandu’ comprising all Peethadhipathis, members of Uttarandhra Sadhu Parishad, Hindu Raksha Samithi and the people from nearby villages and towns around Tirupati shortly if the government failed to respond to their appeal.

Hindu Raksha Samithi convenor Gurayya said that they would participate in the agitation along with all Peethadhipathis to protect Hindu Dharma.

Among other saints, Sri Srinivasananda Swami, Sri Samathananda Swami and Sri Parnananda Swami of Uttarandhra Sadhu Parishad attended the meeting.
