Hyderabad: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) will organise a ‘maha dharna’ here seeking amendments to the AP State Reorganisation Bill on January 7.
The protest is also intended to denounce Seemandhra conspiracies to stall the State bifurcation process, according to TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram.
He informed that JAC members had already approached police officials seeking permission for the programme.
Referring to the Seemandhra leaders’ statement that the last ball was yet to be bowled, he predicted that it would be the Telangana leaders who would hit a six on the last ball instead of the Chief Minister.
BJP State president G Kishan Reddy reiterated the party’s support to the demand for statehood status to the Telangana region. ‘We would like to voice concerns of Seemandhra people in Parliament. But it did not mean that the BJP would back out from its commitment to the creation of separate Telangana State, he said.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Rapolu Ananda Bhasker appealed to the Telangana people not to have any concerns on the formation of Telangana State. By March, both States would have different Governors and Chief Ministers, he asserted.
TUS president C Vittal and TUS executive committee members Mamidi Narayana and Suresh also spoke on this occasion.
