Chittoor: Fleeing with lover, woman drowns in well

Chittoor: In a tragic incident, a 23-year old woman Meena died, after she accidentally fell in a well while fleeing with her lover Chittibabu (27) in Lakshmireddypalli of GD Nellore mandal, late on Monday night.

According to sources, Meena of Lakshmireddypalli and Chittibabu of Adikilamanupalli, nearby villages were in love for the past four years. They decided to marry without the knowledge of their parents fearing that they would not give consent for their marriage.

Accordingly, Chittibabu along with his friend Suresh went on a motor cycle to Meena's house to pick her up to marry her in the morning in a temple. However, some villagers who woke up on hearing the sounds of the motorcycle on which the trio were hurrying raised an alarm. The neighbours, who woke up to the commotion, have started chasing the trio. Unfortunately, the trio fell down from the vehicle after they lost control over it. The three got up and ran through a field where they fell in a well.

The villagers after searching for them for some time returned.

In the meanwhile, Chittibabu and Suresh who were injured were found by some villagers who were passing near the well early in the morning, after they heard their moaning and yelling.Meena was already found drowned in the well.

The two with injuries were admitted to Chittoor government hospital. Police registered a case and investigation is on.
