Two-day session on party’s stand on draft T Bill begins

Hyderabad: The working committee of the State Lok Satta Party (LSP) began its two-day session here on Monday to finalise its stand on the AP Reorganisation Bill slated to come up for discussion in the Assembly on January 3.

According to sources, LSP is considering seeking amendments to the Bill to safeguard the interests of the three regions in the State -- alternative solutions like carving out a separate Rayalaseema state and extending a special economic status to most backward regions. State LSP president Katari Srinivasa Rao told the media that the working committee was holding discussions on the present political crisis in the State caused by the bankrupt policies of traditional parties. Since a solution to the crisis lies only in alternative politics, the party intends to draw up an action programme with a view to emerging as an alternative political force.

The working committee reviewed the campaign launched by the party on December 21 on Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, liquor menace and drinking water problems. Leaders who took part in the programme gave a clear picture on the plight of the poor and middle class families who had fallen victim to the liquor menace.
