Safe City project: AP police set up 500 CCTVs

Across many places in Hyderabad, as many as 500 CCTV cameras will be installed under the newly launched Safe city project. The DGP, Prasada Rao unveiled the information on Tuesday.

He said the requirement is about 3000 CCTVs. Subsequently, said the DGP, arrangements will be made for the procurement of required number of CCTVs. After the promulgation of AP Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act-2013, it has become mandatory to deploy CCTVs at the areas which are more prone for recurring incidents of militant attacks.

According to this act, a CCTV is needed at every place where there is a possibility of gathering of more than 100 people at any given time.
