Says 15 such ‘love letters’ are lying with him

• To accept or not is Kiran’s prerogative, says minister

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is unlikely to accept the resignation of Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Kiran said that he had received the resignation letter sent by the minister.

“I had received about 15 such love letters in the past,” he said. Asked if he would accept it, he said, all such letters which he had received were lying on his table.

When asked about the comments made by Sridhar Babu against him, Kiran said that it was not his habit to speak against his own party men.

On the other hand, Sridhar Babu continued his tirade against the Chief Minister saying what had happened was a fight between arrogance and self-respect.

Interacting with the media in the Assembly premises, he said from his side he had bowled the last ball and there was no question of his resuming duties as minister. He reiterated that he was stripped of his portfolio only to stall the Telangana State formation process.

When pointed out that the Chief Minister did not appear to be inclined to accept his resignation, he said it was up to the Chief Minister to accept it or not, that was also his prerogative.

“From my side, there is no change in my stand,” he stated.

“The Congress high command has chalked out a clear roadmap to make separate Tealgnana state a reality and it will be implemented meticulously despite the conspiracies of Seemandhra leaders,’’ Sridhar Babu made it clear.

Denying reports that it was sort of match fixing between him and Kiran to help him emerge as a hero in the Telangana region, Sridhar Babu said that people had understood why he had to take the decision to quit the post and he need not give any further clarity on the issue.

“He is coming to attend the Assembly as an ordinary legislator in his personal car. As a minister I used to enter the Assembly from gate number 1 but since I resigned, I have entered the Assembly from gate number 2,’’ he pointed.

Earlier, he called on the Speaker N Manohar at the latter's chambers. A little later, the Deputy Chief Minister C Damodara Rajanarsimha also called on the Speaker. Rajanarsimha said that he had met the Speaker in connection with the draft Telangana Bill and urged him to see that the discussion begins immediately.

Lashing out at Chief Minister, he said that Kiran was not doing anything to start the debate though majority of Seemandhra leaders were in favour of it. “His last ball seems to be staying in office till March. The Chief Minister is testing our patience. We know how to counter it. After January 10, you will see what our strategy would be to ensure that the debate takes place,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
