Huge response to Families Day at Sea, Families Day at Sea, Search and Rescue. Families of over 4,000 defence-civilian personnel sailed on board the Eastern Fleet’s ships on Saturday to witness naval exercises at sea.

Visakhapatnam: Families of over 4,000 defence-civilian personnel sailed on board the Eastern Fleet’s ships on Saturday to witness naval exercises at sea.

Five ships of the Eastern Naval Command, including the Landing Platform Dock INS Jalashwa, Landing Ships Tank (Large) INS Magar and INS Airavat, and Missile Corvettes INS Kulish and INS Sukanya participated in the event that was held as part of the Defence Civilians’ Families Day at Sea.

The highlights of the exercises were the high speed run by the missile Corvette, Search and Rescue (SAR) Demonstration, Underway Replenishment, Station Keeping and an Asymmetric Threat Demonstration.

Earlier, prizes were distributed to children, who won prizes in the painting competition ‘Pratibimb’, held as part of the Navy Week in November. The prizes were given away on board INS Sukanya by Rear Admiral AK Jain, Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Fleet.

Prize winners in various categories included Shriyas Patnaik, Ch Pragnish and V Bhavya in the sub-junior, junior and senior categories respectively.

DAV Public School, Anakapalle, was once again adjudged the best and awarded the rolling trophy. In the special children and hearing impaired children categories, MNDRK Chaitanya and P Raju secured the first positions.
