Explains to YSRCP MLAs why separate T is a necessity

Hyderabad: As the YSRCP MLAs continued with their demand that a resolution to keep the State united be moved in the Assembly and stalled the proceedings of the House, BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday held a mock assembly donning the role of the Speaker after it was first adjourned for half-an-hour and explained as to why separate Telangana State had become a necessity.

Countering the YSRCP argument that bifurcation would lead to water wars among the regions, he said Telangana region suffered major loss in water allocation as compared to the Rayalaseema region right from day one.

“The water that should have been allocated to Rajolibanda Diversion scheme has gone to KC Canal in Rayalaseema. When the State was divided on the basis of linguistic considerations many areas that were part of the Telangana had gone to Karnataka and Maharashtra,’’ the BJP leader stated.

He told the YSRCP leaders that if they could prove that the Telangana region did not suffer loss in water allocation even in the Brajesh Kumar Tribunal Award, he would support them and would raise pro-Samaikyandhra slogans. The YSRCP leaders at this point asked Nagam to adjourn the mock assembly for a short while.

Vijayamma demands resolution

Later, YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi, along with party MLAs, went to the media point and demanded that a resolution to keep the State united be moved in the Assembly. “The draft Telangana Bill was against all the traditions and norms of democracy.
