Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue N Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday said that he was confident that the President and Parliament would take a decision in favour of keeping the State united, if 159 MLAs from Seemandhra opposed all the clauses of the AP Reorganisation Draft Bill in the Assembly.

Raghuveera Reddy, addressing a press conference on Tuesday along with Minister for Finance Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Minister for Ports and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao in the Secretariat, said that all the Seemandhra MLAs should oppose reorganisation in one voice. They should demonstrate their unity while voting on various clauses of the Bill.

“Key issues of irrigation, pensions, employment, boundaries, revenue sharing and Hyderabad can be discussed if the TDP and YSRCP extended cooperation for running the House,” he said, adding that the opinion of the House may be honoured at any stage by the President and both Houses of Parliament. He said that the 159 MLAs of Seemandhra were free to express their opinion on the Bill.

The people of Seemandhra would be meted out a raw deal if the discussion was not allowed to take place in the Assembly.

He said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and all the party MLAs of Seemandhra were committed to united Andhra Pradesh and they would vote against the Bill in the Assembly when it comes up for voting. Stating that the TDP and YSRCP had been stalling the Assembly discussions for political mileage, he said that both parties were not serious in keeping the State united.
