No question of going back on T, asserts Rajnath, Rajnath Singh reiterated Party. There is no going back on our stand although the saffron party has been appealing to the Centre to address the concerns of Seemandhra sections.

• Calls upon State unit to take steps to strengthen party in view of Modi mania across the country

• State leaders express different views on electoral tie-ups

• Former union minister Krishnam Raju returns to party fold

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Rajnath Singh reiterated his party’s full support to formation of separate Telangana State whenever the Bill was placed in the Parliament.

“There is no going back on our stand although the saffron party has been appealing to the Centre to address the concerns of Seemandhra sections,’’ he is understood to have said.

Rajnath Singh reached the city on Wednesday evening to take part in RSS Bhaitak currently underway on the city outskirts.

The BJP supremo proceeded to a hotel in Somajiguda where he closeted with office bearers of the party for about an hour. Reiterating party’s commitment on statehood status to Telangana, he went about discussing issues including poll preparations and selection of candidates, alliances and ways to strengthening the party among others.

Some leaders brought to his notice the news reports of possible alliance with a regional party in the State. While some vehemently opposed electoral understanding with any party, some leaders felt that it would not be bad if the saffron party was given a major chunk of seats to contest elections.

After patiently listening to all of them, Rajnath assured the State unit that they would take its views into confidence before arriving at any decision on electoral tie-up. Pointing out that Narendra Modi wave had swept over the whole nation, Rajnath called upon the State unit to go all-out to strengthen the party.

State leaders impressed upon their national chief to make sure that Modi addressed at least two more meetings in the State before the general elections.

Krishnam Raju joins BJP

Former union minister U Krishnam Raju joined BJP in the presence of Rajnath Singh and senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday.

The actor-turned politician served as a minister in former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Cabinet. He contested on Praja Rajyam ticket in 2009 elections but lost.
