Some 100 legislators sign appeal, Kiran silent

Hyderabad: With speculations rife that the AICC will project party vice-president Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate and Priyanka Gandhi will play a significant role for electioneering, about 100 legislators from the State, including ministers, on Saturday wrote to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi urging her to announce Rahul as the prime ministerial candidate.

AICC secretary P Sudhakar Reddy took the lead and collected signatures of the ministers, including Kanna Lakshminarayana, D Manikya Varaprasad, K Jana Reddy, Basavaraju Saraiah, N Raghuveera Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Maheedhar Reddy, P Sudarshan Reddy, R Venkata Reddy and former PCC chief D Srinivas and Lok Sabha MP Suresh Shetkar, Gade Venkata Reddy and others. According to Sudhakar Reddy a good number of them would be attending the AICC meeting on January 17.

However, it remains to be seen if Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would go to New Delhi or not. When asked about it last week, Kiran just smiled and said “Let’s see.”
