The price of tomato in the Kadapa market is just 30 paisa. It is not the price of single tomato piece, but the price of 1kg tomato. With so many vested interests of getting a huge some of profits, the farmers who brought their crop to the market received a slash in the form of lower prices. By this the farmers are not even in a position to regain their investment on transportation of the product to the market, at least.
At Maidukuru in Kadapa district, the price of tomato is only Rs 0.30 per kilogram. Many farmers left their product unattended in the market and left for their homes. Tomatoes have turned to be the fodder for the animals.
