Tirumala: The charge that an alleged aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Ajay, had the Lord’s ‘darshan’ on ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ confirmed by TTD Trust Board chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju, who asserted that it was a ‘matter of pride’, has stunned both the Vigilance and police officials. Following the sensational allegation made here on Thursday by Telugu Desam deputy floor leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, the Vigilance and police officials are busy fishing out details of the visitors who had ‘darshan’ on January 11. When the media sought details from Bapiraju and TTD Executive Officer M G Gopal, the EO said he was not aware of Dawood’s aide visit. An inquiry would be conducted into who facilitated the ‘darshan’ and action initiated against them.
Intervening, Bapiraju said there was likelihood of a Dawood associate among the persons who had accompanied Maharashtra Minister Sachin Ahale for ‘darshan’. ‘it should be treated as a matter of pride’, he remarked, adding there was ‘no need for a controversy’. Police investigation revealed that Ajay had visited Tirumala and had ‘darshan’ several times under the TTD chairman quota. They are busy trying to secure his photograph and other details.
