Munna back in Ongole jail

Ongole: Dreaded criminal Munna Bhai, alias Munna, who was allegedly responsible for 14 serial murders in 2008 and became infamous as ‘highway killer’ in police records is back in jail here. He has been eluding police since being released recently from the Nalgonda district jail.

Munna managed to develop friendship with several high society persons and earned crores after assuming the role of settler of land disputes and locating hidden treasures in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Chennai besides Maharashtra.

He was nabbed on Saturday in Nandyal, with Kurnool SP Kolli Raghuram Reddy playing the main role, who had worked in Prakasam district till last year. Reddy, who was well aware of Munna’s past record, organised a trap in which the criminal fell.

A team of two Ongole CIs went to Kurnool and interrogated him. Munna is believed to have given crucial information to police on the alleged involvement of several big guns in the shady deals in Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Kurnool. However, the whereabouts of his main associate, Jamal, are not known.

It is suspected that a police group, the main task of which was to tip off Munna, had helped him to successfully escape all attempts to nab him.
