Warangal: The future state of Telangana would be a model for development and all-round growth, said the speakers at a day-long conference on ‘Jayashanker vision-Telangana reconstruction’ here on Sunday.

The conference was organised by Telangana Netizens Forum (TNF) and National Institute of Technology (NIT) JAC at the NIT Warangal to discuss the issues and challenges in the reconstruction of Telangana.

The speakers, who included Telangana JAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram, addressed the gathering and asserted that the new state should be built on the lines of dreams and vision envisaged by late Prof. K Jayashanker.

The state of Telangana, which was imminent, should be a socialist Telangana where the rights of all sections would be protected and welfare of its people given utmost importance, the TJAC leader said.

Kodandaram found fault with the demand by Seemandhra leaders to extend the duration of ongoing Assembly session. Enough time was provided to the house to debate the Telangana bill but it was not made use of in a proper way. The bill has to be returned to the Centre after the stipulated deadline of January 23. Since there were several days left, the time available should be utilized by legislators, he suggested. When asked to comment on the proposed ‘Assembly siege’ by APNGOs, Kodandaram said it was unwise to speak about those who act in an irrational manner.

The founder of Jayashanker Research Centre, V Prakash, in his address, presented a long list of development models and ideas for the future Telangana. He said in every field the new state would stand out as an example of progress.
