political leaders should honour people’s sacrifices: Ashok Babu

Vijayawada: Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi president P Ashok Babu expressed pleasure over the support offered by people’s representatives of all political parties. “This is the only opportunity for the MLAs and MPs to save the State by voting against the Telangana Bill. The employees associations have contributed their salaries for the Samaikyandhra movement. Every section of society suffered a lot in the movement for united State. Now, it is the turn of the people’s representatives. They alone can save the State and honor the sacrifices made by people so far,” he said.

Mr Ashok Babu reminded that public had already expressed their agony over the bifurcation. “Now, we are ready to follow our people’s representatives who need to stand up for the cause. Nearly seven lakh employees in the 13 districts sacrificed their salaries worth Rs 25,000 crore. Students have lost 100 days of their valuable academic year. The APSRTC suffered a loss of Rs 500 crore. The Lawyers JAC is continuing strike till date. All these sacrifices will be honored when political leaders come together irrespective of party and personal agenda to save the State,” he said.

Mr Ashok Babu further said that opinion of people in a democracy was highly valued than the democracy itself. “ The Government should work to meet the aspirations of people. It should not overlook their constitutional rights besides laws. When seven out of total nine crore population are opposing division, the government should immediately drop the proposal. Ironically, it is going ahead with its objectives to divide the State. Now, it is time for the leaders of the political parties and people’s representatives to come together for the cause,” added Mr Ashok Babu.
