Police recover property worth Rs 28.5 lakh

Hyderabad: South Zone police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of five dacoits and recovered stolen property worth Rs 28.5 lakh from their possession. According to Bahadurpura police, Syed Ghouse, 22, Md Saber, 22, Md Habeeb, 20, Syed Khaleel, 20, and Md Abdul Moin, 27, were arrested from their hideout in Bahadurpura area on Sunday evening.

Giving details at a press conference, M Shiva Prasad, Joint CP, in-charge of South Zone, said, “The gang looted a cloth-laden truck near Miralam pond on the intervening night of January 10 and 11 after beating driver Mallappa and helper Beerappa. Later they dumped both of them at Tukkuguda with their legs and hands tied with ropes and leaving behind the empty truck at SYR garden in Balapur.” The police recovered 115 cloth bundles, a knife, a motorcycle and three cell phones used by the culprits during the crime. They were produced in a court which remanded them to judicial custody. A case has been registered under Section 395 (Robbery) and 412 (possessing material of dacoity) of the IPC based on a complaint lodged by Beerappa. “Efforts are being made to nab Syed Taufeeq, Md Ghouse, and Syed Amer Hussain who are still at large,” said Shiva Prasad.
