Hyderabad: The State Assembly on Monday was rocked by discussion on who developed Hyderabad, the successive governments after 1956 or the Nizam’s rule. The House was adjourned for half an hour in the morning after YSR Congress members insisted that voting be first conducted on the T Bill.

Speaker N Manohar pulled them up for their behavior and said that they cannot stall the proceedings every day. He even asked them to learn the rules and procedures of the Assembly before creating ruckus in the House. TDP leader Payyavula Keshav, who spoke on behalf of TDP Seemandhra MLA Forum, made a spirited effort while putting forth his views against bifurcation. But he had to continue his speech amid barbs and sneers from the Telangana MLAs on a number of occasions. Besides digging the history, Keshav harped on the development of Telangana region and the city of Hyderabad.

“This is a city of hope for all the youngsters in the State and is seen as a destination for their careers,” he said. The all-round development of the city, Keshav, said was possible due to the will and vision of Chandrababu. Naidu.

“He toured the world, brought the best minds, made the city a hub for IT, pharma, tourism and education sectors,” he said.

Firing salvos at TRS, Keshav raked up the Nizam’ rule, saying that it led to the historic Telangana Armed Struggle fought under the aegis of Andhra Mahasabha.

“TRS inherited the feudal landlord’s legacy. At every point of time, it subverted the facts and history and painted Andhras as traitors and brutal.

TRS has been leading an agitation to make money in the name of Telangana,” he lambasted. Rattled by Keshav’s accusations, TRS members protested against him to the Chair.

Etela Rajender’s remark on the Nizam’s rule added another dimension to the issue.

“Nizam may be a despot and an oppressor but not as much as Andhra rulers” Etala said. MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who declared himself as a successor of the Nizam, came down heavily on the TDP for taking up the name of the erstwhile ruler.
