Aruna on TDP banners; Cong sees red, Minister Galla Aruna Kumar, Kiran Kumar Reddy. Surprisingly, there were no Congress flags. Nor were there cutouts of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy or the government’s programmes.

Tirupati: Leaders of both the Congress and Telugu Desam were stunned on Saturday when they found to their shock Minister Galla Aruna Kumari’s cutouts over TDP flags and banners at an official programme at Aithepalli in Chandragiri constituency.

Surprisingly, there were no Congress flags. Nor were there cutouts of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy or the government’s programmes. This was a hot topic of discussion not only in Chandragiri, but across the district.

Even the banners on the dais were of TDP. There were also photographs of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu with the minister. Leaders were left wondering whether the display of TDP banners/flags was an indication of the changing political situation and party-hopping. There is strong speculation that Aruna’s son Jayadev will join TDP and contest the Guntur Lok Sabha election. The minister’ silence on the issue gives credence to rumours that she might also switch over to TDP and contest from Chandragiri.

Aruna Kumari was attending the inauguration of a road built under the Constituency Development Fund of Telugu Desam MP N Sivaprasad, who was also present on the occasion.
