New Delhi: Ministers from the Telangana region on Monday called on the AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, to plead with him for expediting the Telangana Bill and pass it in this very session of Parliament from February 5 to 21. The Ministers included D K Aruna, Sunita Lakshma Reddy, K Jana Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Ramreddi Venkat Reddy and C Uttam Kumar Reddy.

They also sought permission from Digvijay Singh to allow them to meet BJP President Rajnath Singh and other political leaders like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan and JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav and urge them to pass the Telangana Bill in the ensuing Parliament Session.

Apparently, Singh told them that they can go ahead. Later, they met leader Ram Vilas Paswan to enlist support for the Telangana Bill that will come up in the upcoming Parliament Session. D K Aruna dismissed the claim that Telangana Bill was rejected by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. It is a false propaganda and has no basis, she said. D K Aruna insisted that the powers of the Centre under Article 3 of the Constitution are absolute.

The Ministers regretted that the Seemandhra leaders were trying to go to the judiciary in a desperate bid to stall the process of creation of Telangana. Already more than 1,000 students have sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana. It is high time the Telangana State is formed, they felt.
