Hyderabad: The Telagnana bandh called by Telagnana Praja Front (TPF) and other T organisations evoked partial response in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

While most of the educational institutions, particularly schools, were closed, commercial establishments functioned normally.

Apart from few protests undertaken by the pro-Telangana organisations, the bandh was observed in a peaceful manner. Even the APSRTC buses plied on the roads without any hurdle, amidst limited traffic on the roads. The bandh was supported by very few T organisations that included the OUJAC and VIRASAM. The OUJAC held rally and burnt the effigy of BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu on the OU campus.

Some of the pro-Telangana leaders protested in front of the NTR Trust Bhavan by shouting slogans against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, which was countered by his partymen.

The VIRASAM, which took out a rally from Ambedkar statue towards the statue of Komaram Bheem was stopped by the police. Its leader Varavara Rao demanded the Centre to create Telangana without any restrictions. He criticised the proposal of Governor’s rule and Polavaram project, which would submerge several adivasi villages.
