Hyderabad: Will Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy return to the pavilion on Thursday? Ministers close to Kiran say that this would be a certainty if the T bill is tabled in the Parliament. A remark made by Kiran that “Tomorrow is the last day,” gave greater credence to this speculation. Incidentally, Thursday also happens to be the last day for the Vote-on-Account budget session of Assembly.
Kiran made this comment when reporters asked him as to why there was a beeline of legislators to his chambers and whether he proposed to talk to the media and brief them on the latest developments or deliberations that were going on in his room. When further questioned as to what he meant by “tomorrow is the last day,” Kiran quipped, “Last day of Assembly.” He, however, cleared several proposals pertaining to constituency development funds etc brought to him by the MLAs.
During this exercise, TDP MLA from Tandur, P Mahender Reddy, had a heated argument with officials of the Chief Minister's Office for not granting permission to his aide to set up a medical college. The MLA lost cool and verbally attacked the officials.
However, Kiran held series of meetings with Seemandhra leaders during the day in the assembly premises and according Minister Pithani Satyanarayana Kiran had made up his mind to quit the minute the T bill was tabled in the house.
Kiran, he said, would try to deliver a final speech in the Assembly on Thursday. But if he fails to do so due to stalling of the proceedings of the house by T MLAs, he would address the media after the assembly adjourns sine die. He may announce his decision to quit at the media conference.
Soon after that Kiran proposes to hold a brainstorming session with his supporters in the Seemandhra Congress to finalise his next political move. Meanwhile, Union Minister D Purandeswari announced in Delhi that she would resign from the Council of Ministers and the Congress party if the T Bill was introduced in the Parliament. Speculations are rife that she is contemplating to join BJP.
