Tirumala: An alleged mentally deranged person went into a hysterical stoning spree and injured three devotees who were walking on the Alipiri-Tirumala route near the Narasimha Swamy Temple in the wee hours of Saturday.

When he was seen moving around the temple, local police and TTD Vigilance personnel took him into custody. He was identified as Kumar from Ambattur in Chennai.

The injured, also from Chennai, sustained bleeding injuries in the head and body. After Kumar admitted attacking the devotees, ACP Umamaheswara Sarma said police would ascertain his mental status by conducting tests.
