“Good-bye to AP Assembly-Welcome to T Assembly.” This was the slogan written on placards carried by TRS legislators on the last day (February 13) of the vote-on-account budget session of the State Assembly held last week. With the Centre fully resolved to ensure passage of the Telangana Bill in the remaining five days of the ongoing session of Parliament, February 13, in all probability, would go down in history as the last working day of the united Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Sensing the occasion, TRS legislators entered the House with placards that conveyed a message of bidding good-bye to their colleagues from Seemandhra region. After the appropriation Bills were approved by the House (a few minutes after the Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament), TRS legislators T Harish Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, Gangula Kamalakar and others went near the benches of Seemandhra leaders and shook hands with them. Seemandhra legislators too reciprocated their gesture with warmth.

Unless some drastic development takes place in the next five days, this session would go down as the last occasion when Seemandhra and Telangana leaders shared common space in the Legislative Assembly.- Mahesh Avadhutha
