On Wednesday an incident of minor getting married for six times has come into light in Hyderabad. The minor’s father and step mother collectively involved in her repeated contract marriages. A case has been booked by the Rain Bazar police on the complaint made by the victim.

According to the police, a minor girl aged 17 and resident of Hafizbaba Nagar has been repeatedly married to different Arab Sheiks in last two years on contract basis. The victim’s father, step mother have been allegedly involved in the issue. The broker involved in the matter made her first contract marriage in 2012 at Nagapur for meagre Rs 30,000. Later, in a similar way at Pune for Rs.40, 000 and more two marriages in Mumbai were done. In February last year, one more marriage was made. Finally, on February 14 one more marriage was made for Rs.1L with a Sudan based Sheik. While this Sudan based Sheik Mannan was taking her to a lodge, she got away somehow.

She disclosed the matter to her family members in Kanchanbagh and with their help brought into the knowledge of PUCL president Jaya Vindhyala. Accompanied by the victim, the PUCL president approached Rain Bazar police station and lodged a compliant with them. Initially the police said that the area, where the incident has taken place was not under their jurisdiction. However, they filed a case with the involvement of DCP. The case will be subsequently transferred to Kanchanbagh.

The CUPL president said such incidents have been happening just because of the increased illiteracy in the state. She demanded the police commissioner to punish the culprits, adequately.
