Narlikar selected for Nayudamma award, Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, Dr Y Nayudamma Memorial Award. Vijayawada: Founder-director of the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, has been selected for the prestigious Dr Y Nayudamma Memorial Award for 2013. Founder-managing trustee of Dr Y Nayudamma Memorial Trust P Vishnu Murthy, told the media that Prof. Narlikar was selected for his epoch-making contribution in astronomy and astrophysics. The award would be presented to him in Tenali, the home town of Dr Nayudamma, on March 1.

Former Union Home Secretary K Padmanabhaiah would present the award to Prof. Narlikar, who delivers the 22nd memorial lecture on Dr Nayudamma, on “Are we alone in the universe?”. Vishnu Murthy said that Prof. Narlikar has been heading an international team in pioneering experiments designed to sample air for microorganisms in the atmosphere at heights of up to 41 km.
