Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who held a meeting with senior party leaders on Friday, discussed the poll strategy that the party needs to adopt in Seemandhra region and also the measures it should take to constitute the Telangana unit of the party. The party leadership felt that the issue of constituting the T unit should be put on hold for the time being since the gazette notification on bifurcation and the appointed date were yet to be announced.

It felt that either the party honorary president Y S Vijayamma or Sharmila, Jagan’s sister, could head the T unit, while Jagan should concentrate on poll campaign in both the regions. Following this, it was decided that Jagan should launch the poll campaign – “Jayabheri” from Tirupati on Saturday. As part of the first phase of campaign, he would participate in the rallies and public meetings at Eluru on March 3 and Nidadavole on March 4, Khammam and Narasaraopet on March 5 and 6 respectively.

Apart from poll campaign, the YSR party leader would also resume ‘Odarpu Yatra’ which he would take up at Macherla on March 7 and 8 and from March 9 to 14. Party senior leader G Ramachandra Rao said that the party was making all arrangements to launch intensive poll campaign in Telangana also. The number of seats to be contested by the party in the T region would be decided soon, he said.
