Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam party has decided to use the BC card in Telangana region and the development card in Seemandhra region as its electoral plank.

The party leadership is working out strategies in that direction. According to party insiders, the TDP which is in a disadvantageous situation in T region despite having strong cadre has decided to woo the BCs who constitute the majority in the region.

It is learnt that party president N Chandrababu Naidu was learnt to have met some of the BC leaders, including R Krishnaiah, recently and discussed the various measures that needed to be taken to see that the party could win over the BCs. He was learnt to have told Krishnaiah that the TDP was ready to discuss various issues that could be included in the party manifesto.

Naidu was also learnt to have told Krishnaiah that TDP was ready to give more than 100 Assembly seats to BCs and was also not averse to fielding him from any of the Lok Sabha constituencies he wanted provided he could convince all the BC organisations to support the TDP. Krishnaiah, while assuring support to any party that would strive for the uplift of the BCs, was understood to have told Naidu that he would consult other BC organisations and would get back to him.

It is learnt that Naidu had asked the party rank and file to go aggressive and explain that the TDP was never opposed to bifurcation but being a party for the welfare of Telugus had fought for equal justice. He told them that TDP had never withdrawn the letter it gave to the Centre supporting division of the state. His fight was against the manner in which Congress had rushed with the process without ensuring equal justice. He is also said to have told the party workers not to bother about those who left the party. Some leaders were quitting the party for narrow political gains. Addressing the party workers, Naidu lashed out at TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao. He said though KCR was a minister at the Centre, he did nothing for the poor and downtrodden people in T region. He connived with the Congress to decimate TDP. As part of the game, the Congress even tried to foist CBI cases against him but failed to prove anything, he said. It was a historical necessity that the TDP should come to power in both Telangana and Seemandhra as both the states would have to be reconstructed, he added.

In Seemandhra region, the party will take up aggressive campaign and explain to the people as to how it would transform the residuary state into another Singapore within a short period of three to four years.
