The victims have been identified as Iqbal Ahmed Khan studying in Intermediate and Md. Khalid, a carpenter by profession. Both were residents of Suleimannagar in Rajendranagar.

According to police, the boys might have got electrocuted when they came in contact with live power cables near a power transformer in their locality. Investigations were on in the angle that the teenagers were involved in drawing power illegally from the transformer, added the police.

Local residents staged a protest along with the bodies at the local APCPDCL office demanding compensation and an action against the officials for not covering the transformer properly. The protest was called off after Charminar legislators Ahmed Pasha Quadri, spoke with the electricity department officials who promised to look into the issue.
