POW Conference Adopts Resolutions. The sixth Conference of Progressive Organisation for Women (POW) concluded here on Monday. More than 500 delegates from across the state took part in the three-day conference that included seminars and cultural programmes.

  • Removal of military personnel from North Eastern States and taking up the case of Irom Chanu Sharmila who has been on a hunger strike for more than 12 years.
  • Repeal of Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill as it is in favour of the medical industry
  • Proper implementation of 498 A
  • Implementation of Criminal Act at public and private work places
  • Domestic Violence Bill should be implemented properly at all levels and women should feel free to lodge complaints at mandal and district level.

Hyderabad: The sixth Conference of Progressive Organisation for Women (POW) concluded here on Monday. More than 500 delegates from across the state took part in the three-day conference that included seminars and cultural programmes.

In the wake of bifurication of the State, two committees were formed. V Sandhya was elected president for Telangana committee with U Padma as secretary. And for Seemandhra, N Vishnu would be the president with B Padma as secretary. Speaking about the new resolutions at the conference, V Sandhya commented that POW would work with renewed vigour to see that the laws were implemented better. “There is a need for proper implementation of laws. For instance, the Act relating to crime against women is not being implemented properly. Women should be able to go and give complaints without fear even at the mandal level.”
