Hyderabad: The members of Kamalnathan Committee on staff division between the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana met Chief Secretary P K Mohanty here on Thursday and discussed modalities.

Chief Secretary P K Mohanthy was understood to have told the committee members that the government had identified 56,000 state cadre posts to be divided between the States. Modalities of deciding on their options in case of too many opting for a particular department in either of the States came up before the committee. Special measures to consider the options by the employees without leaving them with the impression of being let down were favoured.

Issues such as pattern and size of the departments to be created in the new States and the financial implications involved were also debated. The meeting stressed that employees should have the right to give their option while choosing between the two states. The right of option will be honoured at all levels. The Committee was asked to submit its report to the government in 15 days. The report would be studied by the apex committee before sending it to the Central committee which would take the final decision. Archana Varma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Personnel and Training, and K Kipgen, the Director of the State Reorganization Department, were present at the meeting.
