Raghuveera urges Congmen to return
APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy Urges Congress Men To Return. The new APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy who has been tasked with the job of reviving the party’s fortunes in Seemandhra region in the ensuing elections made a fervent appeal on Thursday to those who had left the party to return. He also urged those who are on the verge of quitting the party to reconsider their decision.

Hyderabad: The new APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy who has been tasked with the job of reviving the party’s fortunes in Seemandhra region in the ensuing elections made a fervent appeal on Thursday to those who had left the party to return. He also urged those who are on the verge of quitting the party to reconsider their decision.

Addressing his first press conference as the APCC president, Reddy said that the party was going through a very tough and testing time and it was the responsibility of all the leaders who had enjoyed various positions in the party and the government to see that it regained the lost ground. Instead of leaving the party for narrow political gains, they should work together and see that Congress won maximum seats. "It is not fair for anybody to leave the Congress at the hour of crisis after enjoying power," he said.
Reddy thanked AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi and party state affairs in-charge Digvijay Singh for reposing faith in him and appointing him as the APCC president.
He said the Congress cannot be blamed for taking bifurcation decision. It was the opposition parties including TDP which put pressure on it to divide the state. Only the CPM had opposed the division of the state, he pointed out. The Congress high command and the Centre had taken all care to see that the people of the successor state were not left in lurch.
He recalled the benefits announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Rajya Sabha. As if to counter Kiran Kumar Reddy, he referred to Indira Gandhi several times and recalled how she had taken landmark decisions like nationalisation of banks and land reforms to drive home the point that it was only the Congress party which was committed to social justice and all-round development.
