Congress leaders scour for info following tirade against the party by the Jana Sena leader
Hyderabad: Who is behind the launching of Jana Sena Party by film actor Pawan Kalyan? This is the hot topic of discussion in Congress circles. The party leaders feel that this is a game plan hatched by BJP-TDP combine against the Congress party. Last time, the Congress had backed Chiranjeevi’s PRP which played spoil sport and prevented TDP from coming to power.
The Congress leaders feel that the film actor might join hands with the BJP and the TDP to mar the Congress chance. Interestingly, while the Congress leaders vied with each other in lashing at Pawan for the clarion call Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao, TDP and BJP leaders welcomed the launching of new party by Pawan. These two parties had competed with each other in criticising Kiran when he launched Jai Samaikyandhra party at Rajahmundry recently.
The veteran film actor and TDP leader Murali Mohan welcomed the decision of Pawan and said that this new party aims to bury the Congress. He said if Pawan joins hands with TDP in general polls, Congress can be shown its place easily.
The BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu who was criticised by Pawan on Friday said that there was some misunderstanding on the part of Pawan on the comments he had made against the film actor. Naidu said that once Janasena party announces its agenda then BJP would consider the issue of poll alliance.
He said, BJP was ready to join hands with all those forces who want to defeat Congress. Meanwhile, the Congress party which is miffed with Pawan’s remarks against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ahmed Patel and Digvijay Singh said that Pawan was “maverick” and had lost his mental balance. Komatireddy Venkatreddy said that Pawan should be admitted to a mental asylum.
The Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that in politics one needs greater maturity. He said emotional outbursts do not help anyone. Pawan should first study the history of freedom struggle, the role played by Congress in the struggle and how various Congress Prime Ministers like Indira Gandhi had introduced several reforms like nationalisation of banks, poverty alleviation programmes, various five year plans for overall development of all states, RTI act, Food security bill and the Telangana Bill. Other leaders like former minister Shabbir Ali also criticised Pawan.
Chiru defends brother
Pawan’s brother and Union Minister K Chiranjeevi defended his brother’s outburst against Congress but reaffirmed that his loyalties lie with the Congress party. He said, "Pawan is a very sensitive person. He got emotional at his party launch yesterday." Pawan, he added, has zeal to serve the society in some manner, but the way he lashed at Congress party was not correct and that had hurt him. He said if Pawan feels that division of state should have taken place, then the first accused in the matter should be the opposition parties and not Congress party. Congress was the last one to say yes to division of the state. He further said that the Congress is rooted in history that spans 127 years. "It has survived criticism. No one can finish that party."
