Hyderabad: The Lok Satta Party kicked off its 2014 general election campaign from Kukatpally in Hyderabad by holding a public meeting titled ‘Eela Bheri’ on Sunday, March 16.

Lok Satta Party national and state presidents Dr Jayaprakash Narayan and Katari Srinivasa Rao, National General Secretary Surendra Srivastava and other top party leaders took part in the meeting at Ramya Grounds in KPHB Colony.

JP, who represents Kukatpally in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, presented his record and described how he has changed the face of the constituency in the last five years by taking up and successfully completing a number of development works and striving to ensure that welfare schemes reached all disadvantaged sections.

He challenged the other 293 MLAs of AP to demonstrate better performance as legislators. He congratulated the voters of Kukatpally for recognising that winnability is the effect not cause.

JP said, “The people of Kukatpally are extraordinary. They set a precedent in 2009 by voting for fearless leadership that guarantees growth and prosperity for the people. Voters tend to complicate their choice but imagining that monsters with money, criminals and corruption cannot be vanquished. History and mythology abound with David vs Goliath tales, including a starving Gandhi against the mightiest empire in the world. The 2009 election in Kukatpally proved that voters can defeat money power!" Referring to the successful public rally in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, JP said, "It is not for nothing that thousands gathered at Marripalem grounds yesterday in Vizag to cheer Loksatta despite the venue being forced twice. Loksatta will win Vizag in 2014!"

“People know a good thing when they see it. The time has come to demonstrate this. Kukatpally didn't just set a precedent, it set a trend.”

He claimed that no other constituency in AP has seen even a fraction of work done in Kukatpally and challenged any MLA to prove otherwise. Kukatpally is the best Assembly constituency in the state, he claimed.
