Chintapalli (Visakha Agency): Nine labourers were injured, five of them seriously, when the flyover under construction---on which they were laying concrete mix---collapsed near Choudipalli hamlet, in this mandal, on Thursday. The injured were identified as Prabhudas, Gundanna, Gopinath, Chantibabu, Jagannadham,, Pandanna, all from Gavurti village, in the mandal, Mokhai, Venkat, from Odisha, and Israel from Kadapa.

The severely injured were shifted to the government area hospital, Narsipatnam, and others admitted to a local hospital. According to primary information, the fly-over was being built near the old bridge. ‘Defective’ centering work was stated to have caused the collapse. Some workers sustained injuries when they fell on iron rods. Local police registered a case.
