The party has demanded that the government take action against the Gandhinagar CI Sanjeev Rao for allegedly not intervening and preventing the attack on CPI men. Narayana, who wrote to the Governor and DGP, alleged that the Inspector was in collusion with the ‘private land mafia’ and hence did not take action against them.

Mill closed in 1992

The Diwan Bahadur Ramgopal (DBR) Mill which was established during the reign of Nizam supported hundreds of families was closed in 1992, without any prior intimation to the workers. The land which was ‘Inam’ was automatically transferred to the State government.

One of the partners bought back the mill from BIFR (Board for Industrial Financial Reconstruction) with intention of developing real estate.

The mill spread in more than 24 acre could be valued at Rs 1,500 crore. Even though there is a case in the court, the encroachers tried to lay foundation stone on Monday. On the other hand, hundreds of workers are yet to get compensation and arrears from the management. Several of those who continued to live in the surrounding areas ran pillar to post to get their dues. About 90 of them died due to old age, while some of them, reportedly, committed suicide.
