APCC Declares First List for Seemandhra, the list of 139 candidates for Seemandhra Assembly and 20 Lok Sabha Constituencies. The party is yet to finalise the names of candidates for another 30 Assembly and 4 Lok Sabha seats.
New Delhi: After struggling for two days, the AICC late on Sunday evening announced the list of 139 candidates for Seemandhra Assembly and 20 Lok Sabha Constituencies. The party is yet to finalise the names of candidates for another 30 Assembly and 4 Lok Sabha seats. The party, which has been facing an uphill task to find candidates for both the Assembly and the Lok Sabha seats, has decided to retain the sitting MPs and MLAs. However out of 139 of the 175 Assembly seats announced so far, the party had to find new faces to contest the elections. Among the prominent leaders whose names figure in the list for Lok Sabha are: S Kishore Chandra Deo (Araku-ST), Killi Krupa Rani (Srikakulam), Jhansi Laxmi Botcha (Vizianagaram), Thota Vijayalakshmi (Anakapalle), M M Pallam Raju (Kakinada), A J V Butchi Maheshwara Rao (Amalapuram – SC), Kanumuru Bapiraju (Narsapuram), Panabaka Lakshmi (Bapatla-SC ) and Sai Pratap (Rajampeta).
Among the MLAs candidates are APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy (Penugonda), Kanna Lakshminarayana (Guntur –West), former APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana (Cheepurupalle) and Speaker Nadendla Manohar (Tenali ), V S S Indira (Nagari), Kondru Murali Mohan (Rajam-SC), S Sailajanath (Singanamalla-SC), Boddepalli Satyavathi (Amadalavalasa), Devineni Rajashekhar (Vijayawada East), Malladi Vishnu Vardhan Rao (Vijayawada Central) and Vellampally Srinivas Rao (Vijayawada West).
Barring Visakhapatnam (South), where Dronamraju Srinivas Rao has been renominated, in all the Assembly segments in Visakhapatnam, women candidates have been fielded. D Prabha Goud from Visakhapatnam East, Bharati Venkateshwari from Visakhapatnam North and P Ramani Kumari from Visakhapatnam West have been named as the candidates.
Other important candidates fielded by the Congress include S K Mastan Wali from Guntur East, Dr M Hanumanth Rao from Chilakaluripet, Kasu Mahesh Reddy from Narsaraopet, Y Venkateshwara Reddy from Sattanepalli, M MallikarjunRao from Vinukonda, K Potula Jwala Rao from Darsi, Modugula Krishna Reddy from Parchur, Galam Lakshmi Yadav from Addanki, Kandula Goutam Reddy from Giddalur, Panabaka Krishnayya from Gudur and Yeluri Ramachandra Reddy from Markapuram.
However, several Youth Congress leaders from the State are unhappy over the selection of candidates and feel that they have been ignored and proper representation has not been given to them. They said they will meet AICC vice- president Rahul Gandhi and seek justice. They said they would blame the state leaders who had prepared the tentative list, and not Rahul. “We have been working hard for the party for the past two years and still we have been ignored,” they rued.
