No sooner the summer season begins than the farmers of Telangana have to face many problems due to the hailstorms. Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Hyderabad are the worst affected districts in Andhra Pradesh. A loss of Rs 100cr has been recorded for the hailstorms occured on May 4 and May 5. As many as 5000 cattle lost their lives during these hailstorms, apart from a damage caused to 1500 homes.

In Karimanagar district alone, a loss of Rs 70cr against the crop has been recorded. Ranagareddy recorded a loss of Rs 6cr while Mahabubnagar recorded a loss of Rs 4cr against the damage caused to the corps. The farmers have been expressing their misery over the very issue.

Due to these hail storms, not only the crops have been smashed but also the grains taken to the market yards for sale also have been spoiled. Hailstorms can be prevented with efforts. But, no authorities ever bother to assume such acts which are otherwise very useful to the agrarian societies.
