It is also convenient for people as it reaches Guntur by 10.45 am.” While regular travellers gave thumbs-up for the train, children were seen running from one deck to another. About 500 people travelled on the train. Asif Mohammed, an executive who travels frequently to Guntur, said that the fare of Rs 415 is full money for value and there was enough legroom as well, which would make the journey comfortable.

The 10-AC coach train is powered by two generator cars. The train although manufactured at a significantly higher cost than normal coaches does not burden the passengers. The fare is same as the normal fare for tany other AC chair car, informed the South Central Railway Chief Public relations Officer K Sambasiva Rao.

For the two Loco Pilots of Guntur Division, S K Karimulla t(Loco Pilot) Y Ramakrishna (Assistant Loco Pilot), it was a proud moment of their career as they received accolades from all the passengers and onlookers.

One of the unique features of this train is that it has been provided with VESDA (Very Early Smoke or Fire Detection with Alarm System). VESDA is being introduced in a Double Decker train for the first time in Indian Railways.

A senior employee of SCR said that the feature helps in quelling any impending fire mishap in the initial stages itself. Even a faint smoke would start off an alarm. Today the new AC Double Decker train will chug its way out to Tirupati from Kacheguda.
