Etela: TRS’ Show a Slap in the Face of Rivals Hyderabad: TRS senior leader Etela Rajender pointed out that pulse of Telangana people was revealed in local body elections in which TRS fared exceeding well surpassing all expectations. Demanding the Congress party to come out with a response on election results, Rajender said that TRS’s performance was a slap in the face of rival parties.

Addressing a press conference here, Rajender said that TRS, would take all steps to build a strong cadre base at grass-root level in the new state of Telangana. Our goal was formation of Telangana statehood for the last ten years. Hence, we did not focus on local body elections much. However, our focus would be on strengthening party in ten districts besides giving a corruption free government after coming to power, he added.

Faulting reports in the media that TRS drew a blank in Khammam, he pointed out that pink party did not contest a single seat in that district. TRS flag will be hoisted in Assembly Rajender commented that TRS was very confident of waving of its flag in Assembly elections, results for which would be announced in the next few hours. TRS will bag 70-80 seats in these elections to form government, he said.

‘TRS working style, governance and agenda would be very different from rest of the 28 states’ He said that TRS legislature party would meet on May 17 to decide its leader. In an informal chat with reporters later, Rajender said that there were no doubts in TRS party ranks as to who should be their leader. K Chandrasekhar Rao, who led the movement, ably, for over a decade ensuring its logical conclusion, deserves every bit of praise, he felt. To a query, he said that new government in Telangana would assume office on June 2.
